I have been a professional piano-tuner since 1984, and self-employed since 1985.

As long as I can remember, I've been cracking jokes and trying to make people laugh. I credit that to my Mom's weird sense of humor and my Dad's outgoing personality! (On family road trips, Dad would walk right up to someone pumping gas, stick out his hand and say, "Hi! Bob White! Damn glad to meet ya!") My brother, Matt, also has funnybone genes. Dave was more of a dry humor guy. Nobody knows where that came from for sure.

My wife, Sharron, has always been very supportive of my cartooning efforts. Her response to the toons helps me decide whether or not I've made the gag work effectively.

That's right, these comics are written and drawn by a professional piano tuner. And we all know that piano tuners have the best jokes! Like sometimes they'll lift up the lid of the piano and say, "well well well, looks like somebody needs a TUNE UP!" and the entire conservatory titters. Do the gags in these comics work effectively? No, but you will gag efficiently if you read too many of these. Here's an actual example:

Oh… ugh. Wow, I feel sorry for his wife: "Yes dear, that's hilarious, no really, I'm laughing on the inside!" Here's my "improved" version:

Ha ha, kill me. Again, don't read too many of these comics or you'll go blind and deaf and stupid and ugly. If you're already blind, I apologize, and here's a joke especially for you: "I went on a blind date once. Her name was .:..:.:.." Arf! Now that's a gag straight from the hip… shot!
