More than 70 years after his first appearance in print, Curious George remains wildly popular -- with kids, yes, but more relevantly with Internet forums posters, who will love and support every childhood-treasured thing forevermore. But even endless devotion has its limits, and you can only re-read those old books so many times -- theoretically, at least. With that in mind, Sherlock Hopkins started this theme, and after getting the requisite this-is-not-canon response out of the way, the SA Goons got to work on their gritty reboot of the beloved franchise.
