Amy Winehouse's death was devastating news for the people who had been making a sweet living by herding her body to studios and concerts while enforcing the illusion that she could still function while on drugs. Shortly after her passing the UK arm of Microsoft's PR paid their respects with a classy tweet:
Some of you thought this was a shallow and commercially motivated gesture. Of course, since you are on the internet you are cynical and wrong about everything, as this follow-up proves:
So there, shame on you.
Still, I couldn't help but wonder if maybe this Microsoft PR person with a corporate account really was trying to sell albums on Zune by telling people to buy an album on Zune. This seemed like something a crackpot conspiracy theorist would dream up, but I had used the internet earlier that week so my mind had probably been corrupted. I decided to investigate.
My thorough examination of Tweetbox360's Twitter account took me to dark places. Although I am not a hacker by any means I was able to stumble across a page of pre-loaded Tweetbox360 tweets that were ready to be published at a moment's notice. I no longer know who to trust, what's real and what is illusion. All I can do is post evidence of my findings before they get to me.
