Marlin Perkins was the Director of the Zoo back in the 50's through the 70's. He was a very kind and benevolent old man. When he was filming his television show, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, he would always treat the natives with respect. This one time he helped out this African village by sending them a bunch of basic medical needs. They were so thankful that they gave him this huge teakwood door from their temple, or something, I'm not sure. But it was a big frigging door. And Perkins LOVED it.
Dr.Perkins accepted the door and brought it back with him to the Zoo.
