Global communications and transportation have rendered the concepts of 20th century isolationism obsolete. The domestic interests of the United States are directly linked to world events and international trade. For the United States to prosper we must maintain a proactive posture and pursue our goals of blowing the ever-living shit out of countries with something we want and a smaller GDP than us.

To simplify, the United States foreign policy is to kick ass, take names, and expand the sphere of US influence to secure economic and energy interests abroad. If freedom can somehow enter into it then, hey, bonus!
